UNITED WE STRING
AT A GLANCE

WHO WE ARE

United We String is a non-profit organization established in 2020 by Aniketh Arvind. Its mission is to spread the melodious sounds of string music to heal the broken world in which we live. Stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic which brought so much suffering and loss surrounding, we believe that music is the salve for the soul.

The founder, Aniketh Arvind, has been playing the piano since the age of four and the violin since third grade; he currently attends the Music Conservatory of Westchester. He is also learning South Indian Classical Carnatic vocal music. Aniketh was a gold medalist in the J.Y. Park National Piano Competition in 2018 and a first-prize winner of the Greenwich Symphony Orchestra Youth Competition in 2021. That same year, he received First-Class Honors with Distinction in the highest-level Royal Conservatory of Music examination. In the spring season of 2021, Aniketh was appointed concertmaster of the Greater Westchester Junior Orchestra (GWYOA). For the 2021-2022 season, he was also a principal violinist in the Greater Westchester Youth Symphony Orchestra. Aniketh continues to play for the GWYOA Youth Symphony and has been playing for the GYWOA organization for seven years. In March of 2022, Aniketh became a semi-finalist in the Chamber Music Society's National Youth Competition at Lincoln Center, playing the violin in Mendelssohn's Piano Trio No. 1. In November of 2022, he received the 3rd prize in the 2022 International Piano League Competition. In 2023, he was selected as a winner of the 44th Annual Young Artists Concerto Competition, for which he made his debut in May with the Yonkers Philharmonic Orchestra. He has attended the Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan, as well as the Manhattan School of Music in NYC. Aniketh has had the honor of performing at David Geffen Hall and Avery Fisher Hall four times during the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts spring seasons and has performed solo piano at Carnegie Hall.

Music is Aniketh's answer to the world.

MY STORY

HOW IT BEGAN

Speech.png

My story began a few years ago when I visited a special needs school in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India. Having spent the summer volunteering at the humble Neyam Special School, I realized just how lucky I was, but also how much more I needed to do. Having grown up believing in values like equity and equal opportunity, I wanted my summer experience to shape my outlook forever. United We String was born out of my need to bring together my passion for music with lessons learned from that life-changing experience at Neyam, to do what felt right.

BRINGING CHANGE, ONE NOTE AT A TIME

WHAT WE DO

United We String performs for healthcare workers and patients at hospitals and nursing homes, as well as schools around the world. Through this platform, we promote music and the joy the it brings, while also raising funds for important worldwide causes.  Given the global pandemic,  and the loss of performance opportunities, we also aim to recruit young, budding musicians to perform their favorite pieces via video-conference and share their love of music with the world, particularly for the less-fortunate.  If you play an instrument, love music, and want to make this world a better place, join us!
~ We welcome one and all ~
